Fiction Friday ~ Meet

May 8, 2015

Meet

She lifted her eyes from the book she had been staring at for the last 20 minutes but not seeing. His blue eyes glanced over at her for the briefest of moments, but left and impression that would last years. Where had she seen those eyes before? They couldn’t be, but they were. They were the eyes that looked up at her each morning from the crib with the sweet baby smile tucked underneath. That blue that sparkled in the sun and became clear as glass in the morning light.

The first time she’d seen those eyes, she’d clutched her husband’s hand as they peered through the nursery window glass. The nurse had held up their precious baby and invited them in the room. She had gazed into those eyes and then snuggled the soft little bundle to her cheek breathing in the sweet scent.

I’m going to begin participating in Five Minute Friday over on Kate’s blog to give myself a little break from my regular writing. If you’d like to read more posts on the word meet, come join us there. We’d love to have you!

Do you find it hard to study the Bible?

You’ll be amazed at the difference it makes in your life.

I’m so glad I’m your neighbor for FMF because I wanted to compliment your hair. It’s so pretty and striking! I always wondered if I should go for different colored streaks in my hair — pink? Maybe that’s too much? Anyway…

What a good idea to write a timed exercise as fiction, BTW. I really may steal/borrow that idea because I think I should try to write more fiction. And this piece is so sweet.

Thank you, M.B.! My hair is actually God’s design. I had no say in the matter : )

That’s exactly why I decided to do Fiction Friday with the prompt. I write a lot of essays, but I need a fun little break. These prompts and community are perfect!

Intriguing peek into your character’s heart and mind… I love the description of the blue eyes that become “clear as glass” in the morning sun. I’m guessing this baby was adopted at birth… and maybe the man your character just saw may be the father… it sounds like a really good story is brewing!

Thanks for sharing a peek into your work in progress – I’m a new fan from FMF 🙂

Thank you for your kind words, Susan! We’ll have to see if a longer piece comes from this flash fiction…

Thank you, Tiffany! I’ve written FMF posts a long time ago and have missed the fun and community. Glad to be back!
