JOY

img_9669

When I think of joy, I think of getting to spend time with my boys.

That time at the end of the day when I don’t have anything else weighing on my mind and I can really focus just on them. That’s joy.

I love getting the chance to really listen to them. To hear what they are joyful about, to listen as they relate the stories of their day, to hold them and give them snuggles. That’s joy.

Getting the time to go out on a date with my husband and connect with him over a meal. To walk hand-in-hand through a store with no little boys between us. To actually get to talk and listen to each other. That’s joy.

I love finally getting to bed at night. I snuggle with my husband a read together or watch our favorite shows. To share about our day and things that went on. That’s joy.

Joy isn’t just being excited in the moment, though those moments are nice, instead it’s a deep-seated satisfaction when I get to connect with the ones I love, free from distraction, free to fully connect and be present in the moment.

I’m  participating in Five Minute Friday over on Kate’s blog to give myself a little break from my regular writing on overacup.org.  Five Minute Friday is writing for five minutes, one word, no stopping no editing. If you’d like to read more posts on the word for this week , come join us on Kate’s blog. We’d love to have you!

Do you find it hard to study the Bible?

It doesn’t have to be.

Let me help you learn a technique for studying that makes it simple. Join me as we study one chapter each week and memorize two verses of scripture each month.

You’ll be amazed at the difference it makes in your life.
