Friday Favs: God’s Little Devotional Book for Women

Apr 6, 2012

God's Little Devotional Book for Women (God's Little Devotional Books)One of my favorite devotional books that I read again and again is God’s Little Devotional Book for Women. I find it most helpful when I only have a few minutes in my day for quiet time. Its short quote, verse, and devotional story only take a few minutes, yet give me something to think about as I go throughout my day.

This is one I read recently and found interesting:

Do not follow where the path may lead–go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.

Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way walk in it.” Isaiah 30:21 NKJV

The book then tells the story of how the leading expert on brain tumors, Dr. Sachs, came to find that calling and write his book, The Diagnosis and Treatment of Brain Tumors, which became the text on the subject. At the end of the devo it encourages the reader to not let the fact that something hasn’t been done stop them from doing it.

I really like this devotional book because I can read it over and over and still find ideas to think about. I also don’t feel guilty about setting it aside for awhile if I find myself with more time and want to do a more in depth study. My favorite part about it is the fact that I don’t have to read it cover to cover to get the full meaning. I can pick it up, thumb through it, and find a devo that speaks to me on that particular day.

If you’re looking for a book to help you establish a daily devotional time, especially when you feel you have no time, I would highly recommend this book.
