She knew he said she was his “beloved,” now she would see. How would he handle the real Sarah? Would he retreat?
That thought scared her. She had pinned so many hopes, so many…that sounded silly. Of course he would be okay, wouldn’t he?
Her phone began to vibrate on the table. His face appeared as Beyonce launched into, “If you like it then you shoulda put a ring on it. If you like…” She reached for the phone, “Hello?”
“Sarah, where have you been? I’ve been searching everywhere for you!” he gasped.
“What do you mean? This is the first time you called.” She flipped through her call log to be sure…
