Getting Real ~ Tara Cole

Mar 10, 2015

We began this journey together five years ago this May. Five years! Granted it’s only been the last three that I’ve been posting regularly, but many of you have been here since the beginning. Thank you! Thank you for hanging in here with me while I found my way. Thank you for continuing to visit this space as we grow and discover God’s plans for OverACup.

We have a lot of dreams for OverACup. All of them center around the most important mission of all: getting us and our families to heaven. Nothing is more important than that. But before we dive into the next stage here, I feel there is something you need to know.

There’s no easy way to say this, but I have been estranged from my Dad for the last four years. This is my decision, and it was not make out of anger or a spirit of unforgiveness. It was made with much prayer and input from wise people God placed in my life. I’m not here to air dirty laundry, so I’m not going into details. But since by your presence here you’re showing you trust me, I want that trust to be given with eyes wide open. If you have any questions, I don’t mind answering them for you one-on-one.

If you’ve been here for very long, you’re fully aware our writers aren’t perfect. We don’t profess to be. We don’t have all the answers, but we know the God who does. It’s that God we want to help you and your families connect with through our posts and resources.

I cannot tell you how much we love you and your families. Next to my own family, you’re constantly in my prayers and on my heart as I think about the next post, resource, and study.

From our own experience and from research, we’ve learned that one of the biggest factors in passing our our faith on to our children is that they see the day to day relationship with God lived out in our own lives. As Cindy, Amber, and I look back over our pasts, continue to learn and grow, and use our own unique strengths, we want to help you find the best resources possible to make walking with God daily a natural part of you and your families lives.

To help we aim to post on topics that will encourage you in your walk, and we continue to host an online Bible study in OverACup’s Facebook group. Right now we are studying Hope For the Weary Mom by Brooke McGlothlin and Stacey Thacker and would love to have you join us. Last month we also launched our Resources page and added a Pinterest account. The Resources page is filled with books, websites, and materials that we have personally tried ourselves. The Pinterest page is ideas that we might not have tried but that look good, and we may try in the future. If we do use one of the Pinterst activities, we’ll do our best to comment and let you know how it turned out.

We’re continuing to dream of ways we can make this space the best it can be. If you have any input, ideas, or ways we could serve you better as you seek to walk with God daily, please don’t hesitate to contact us at tlcole@overacup.org. We will do our best to reply to every email.

Thank you so much for pouring a cup of coffee, coming to the table, and spending time with us as we learn together how to walk with God daily. My prayer for you this week is that God will give you space to breath in your hectic schedule and that you’ll feel His presence with you.

We love you all!
God Bless,

~ Tara
