I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. ~ Philippians 4:13, NIV

Often, instead of living in excited anticipation, my vision becomes clouded by what is here. The temporary pleasures distract me, and the hard times blind me to what’s to come.
I’m beginning to think this forgetfulness is because I have little knowledge or reminders about heaven. For instance, when you’re pregnant, you can’t forget that the baby is coming soon, or when you’re adopting, you’re constantly anticipating and preparing for their arrival. When you’re getting married or moving, everybody constantly asks you about it. Even when you would like to forget for a few minutes, there’s constant questions about what you’re going to do next.
Not so with heaven. Rarely does anyone, even in the church, talk about it. Never does anyone ask. I wonder why that is?
I want to start changing this situation in my own life. I want to learn more of heaven and get a better vision of it. That way maybe the pleasure and troubles of this life will cloud my vision less, and I can keep my eyes on the goal that “call[s] me heavenward” more.
