Playtime Devotions: Sharing Bible Moments with Your Baby or Toddler (Heritage Builders (Standard))
amazon.com

I’ve mentioned Playtime Devotions by Tamara Schmitz before here, and I really do like it a lot. It is a great book to use for quick devotions with your young children or grandchildren.

Each devotion is set up with a short Bible verse, song, and a short prayer. First, I like that the verse is a shortened, easy-to-understand version of the actual verse. What I like to do is read the actual verse from my Bible, so they make the connection between the Bible and what we’re doing. Then I read the shortened verse so they can grasp the ideas better.

Second, I really like the songs included in the devos. They aren’t your usual Bible school songs. Instead they are songs that change words of secular children’s songs or cute little rhymes that are really easy to remember, and they are full of good concepts. One of my favorites starts:

When I’m high up in the air, when I’m deep down in the sea, anytime or anywhere, God always goes with me.

What I like most about this book is that it allows me to get in devo time with the boys daily, and they are short enough that the devo even holds Liam, my 7 month old’s, attention. He especially likes watching Ethan, my 2 year old, do the motions to the songs.

If you’re looking for an easy way to include devo time with your children or grandchildren in your day, I highly recommend this book.
