Giving our Time

Feb 22, 2013

You will seek me and find me. When you seek me with all your heart, I will be found by you, declares the LORD… ~ Isaiah 29:13-14

I thank God for those of you who are making time with him a daily priority, either in our Facebook group or one of a hundred other ways. The time that you give to him each day is not wasted. I’ve seen this in my life and in the life of my family members.

As I’ve mentioned before, starting when I was about five, my mom got up each morning to spend her time with God. My siblings and I have all told her at various times that her example each day is the single most important factor for us being Christians and living the lives we do today.

I think it was not only her example, but her growing, personal relationship with God that informed so much of what she did and transformed her over time into a godly, patient woman. It helped her to introduce us to the one who would always be there, even when she could not, and as she has told me, it enabled her to take our small hands out of hers and over time place them in God’s. That’s exactly what it felt like.

As you seek God each day, don’t worry about what you cannot give him, but instead bring to him whatever you have. Just like the small boy with the loaves and fish, God is able to multiply your time and feed many.
